There are some locations that feel designed for weddings—and then there are places like Zaca Lake that feel like they were made for storytelling. As a photographer, this styled shoot in central California was one of those rare days where everything came together effortlessly.

Surrounded by pines, the lake, cabins, and lodge create an atmosphere that feels both elevated and grounded. Zaca Lake truly is where luxury meets nature. The cabins in particular stood out with their modern, understated design—clean lines, warm textures, and each one featuring its own fireplace, adding a layer of intimacy that feels so special in a setting like this.

We started with a lakeside engagement session on the dock, where soft light reflected off the water and created the dreamiest, most natural moments. From there, the ceremony design transformed the space with a dramatic draped backdrop by Rosalia Road, flowing beautifully against the natural landscape.

The overall design, led by Annie with Studio West, was incredible—elevated, cohesive, and effortlessly blending sophistication with the organic setting. The lounge setup reflected that perfectly: sleek and refined, yet still natural and inviting.

Florals by Gather Floral brought everything to life with greenery and soft pops of color that felt wild, natural, and classic all at once. The bar by Sip Sip added a vibrant touch, surrounded by florals and featuring orange and yellow drinks that gave off the perfect summer vibe.

The reception was set in an open field, with a row of tables leading toward oak trees and mountains—simple, intentional, and visually striking. Slate Catering elevated the experience even further, with scallops that were truly to-die-for.

The next day, Matcha Matcha created a relaxed, thoughtful follow-up with pistachio and vanilla matchas that were just as beautiful as they were delicious.

From the dock to the lodge, every detail of this Zaca Lake shoot felt intentional yet effortless. It was the kind of setting—and creative collaboration—that makes photographing weddings so inspiring.
