A Sea Ranch Lodge Wedding on the Northern California Coast

There are some weddings that simply feel like they belong exactly where they happened, and Taylor and Johnny's Sea Ranch Lodge wedding was one of them. Perched along the rugged cliffs of the Northern California coast, Sea Ranch Lodge provided the perfect backdrop for a wedding that was equal parts elegant, relaxed, and deeply personal.

As a Sea Ranch Lodge wedding photographer, I always hope for couples who embrace the natural beauty of this incredible venue, and Taylor and Johnny did exactly that.

The two live in San Francisco, but chose Sea Ranch Lodge because it perfectly reflected the atmosphere they wanted for their wedding weekend—peaceful, architectural, intimate, and surrounded by some of California's most breathtaking coastal scenery.

One of my favorite things about this couple is that they're both hobby photographers themselves. As photographers, they notice light, composition, and all of the little details that often go unnoticed. Knowing they chose me to document such an important day was an incredible honor, and it made every image feel even more meaningful.

Rather than hoping for perfectly still weather, Taylor embraced everything the coast had to offer. Her veil danced in the breeze, her dress moved beautifully with every gust, and instead of worrying about every strand of hair staying perfectly in place, she simply enjoyed every second.

That positive outlook completely transformed the photographs.

Instead of feeling overly posed or rigid, their portraits became full of movement, laughter, and genuine emotion. The wind became part of the story instead of something to work around.

Some of my favorite images from the day happened because we leaned into the weather instead of fighting it.

Taylor and Johnny's personalities made photographing this wedding incredibly fun.

They're effortlessly charismatic, easygoing, and the kind of couple who naturally make everyone around them feel comfortable. Rather than focusing on creating perfectly posed images, we spent the day documenting genuine interactions, quiet moments together, and the joy that naturally unfolded throughout the celebration.

Those are always the photographs that become timeless.
