Portland Oregon Wedding Venues

Oregon is home to some of the most beautiful wedding venues in the world, and I am here to help you find them! Below you will find a full list of ceremony and reception venues, links included, categorized by style

Tips for Choosing Your Venue:

I wont’ bore you by talking about “picking the right space for you” or picking a space that can accommodate the number of guests you anticipate. You have definitely already thought of all that. But here are a few tips, from a photographer’s perspective, on picking a good venue.

If you choose an outdoor location, make sure you have a backup plan for rain. News flash: It rains a lot in Oregon! One of the advantages to booking a wedding venue instead of using public land is that you normally will have access to indoor space if necessary. If your space does not have a permanent structure, get pricing for a tent in case you need one.

Choose a location with a variety of spots to shoot with. As a photographer, of course this is one of my main concerns. I recommend studying past weddings from your venue to see what types of locations couples were able to use on their wedding day. You can also drive around the area to. get to know it a bit better. If your venue doesn’t have a ton of variety, you may want to walk or drive to a nearby shot for some more photo variety.

Lighting comes first. Check out the light at your venue. If it’s indoors, are there a lot of windows? If not, does it have bistro lights? Or will you be using candles? If it’s outdoors, does it have shade available? Will the sun be behind you or in front of you during the ceremony? Look at photos you like from the venue, and try to set things up similarly to get the best lighting. Chat with your photographer about what they recommend to get the best lighting out of the space.

For marriage licenses, there is a 3 day waiting period before a marriage may take place. You may apply for a marriage license in any county in Oregon, and use this license anywhere in the state of Oregon. You must use the license within 60 days. The cost of an Oregon marriage license typically ranges between $50-$65. I would recommend calling the desired county ahead of time for tips/advice.

Make sure you jive with the venue wedding coordinator or contact. You’ll be working with them heavily throughout the process. Make sure they respond to emails quickly and seem accommodating.

*Also, one more note. I reached out to the venues to get photos of their space. All photos were sent to me by the venue, except for a few photos which are my own. I asked the venues for proper photo credits, and have credited AND linked any photographers who’s photos are used. If you are a photographer who took one of these images, and would not like me to use them on this blog post, please reach out and I will remove the image.
