House On Metolius Wedding

ISABEL + DAVID

When Isabel described her vision for her wedding, I immediately knew we were a perfect fit.

I loved her personality—super calm, straight forward, and non-pretentious. These two are just a really down-to-earth couple, and I genuinely enjoyed my time with them. Isabel’s mom was the sweetest—always there if anyone needed help, including me. Their whole family just seemed so relaxed the whole day. Isabel and David had originally planned for a large wedding, with lots of friends/family, but ended up having to downsize due to Covid (of course). Things turned out so sweet and intimate. I was so impressed that Isabel stuck with her design concept, and kept all of the beautiful details she’d planned. The long table setup, the tan linens, and beautiful tableware, and STUNNING florals really brought this whole wedding together. Good Seed (linked below) killed it. We were both chatting about how incredibly stunning House On Metolius is. This was the first wedding I’d ever done there, but would loooooove to go back. There’s so much land there, and so much to work with. Would love to go back for another wedding. Let’s also talk about Isabel’s dresses. Yes, there were two of them. The first was a soft mint green number with a slinky fit. This dress moved through the grass and caught the light so delicately, I almost started drooling. The second was a bright red dress with large back bow. Wow, I am so glad she did both! The dress really popped with the sunset and volcano in the backdrop.

Toward the end of the wedding, smoke from a nearby fire moved in. This fire ended up devastating the area. From what I can tell, it didn’t hit House On Metolius. I am so glad their wedding took place just before the fires because they would have had to reschedule.

Notes from Isabel..

“David and I met 17 years ago! He was from Hong Kong and I am originally from New York. We dated for 2 years in high school and then went our separate ways for college. After college, he moved to Shanghai and I moved to DC. We always kept in touch, but never thought our paths never crossed bring halfway across the world from each other. David moved to Portland, OR with his job and on a spontaneous whim after catching up, I went to visit him for the weekend. It felt so easy and fun to spend time together even after all that time! Three years later and we ended up having a magical intimate wedding with just our closest family and a few friends. It wasn't the day we initially planned (we had not only a global pandemic, but also wildfires affecting the planning!), but the only word I can use to describe the way it ended up is magical. We enjoyed being with each other and with our families. With the smaller size, we were able to savor every moment of this special weekend in the beautiful setting.”
