Sunrise Elopement Mount Rainier

AMY + JOE

I knew I loved Amy from the moment I jumped on a call with her. She is super warm, friendly, and very chatty, which basically embodies all of my best friends since high school.

I knew we were going to make a great fit because of how much she raved about my work, and how open she was to my opinion. We originally planned the elopement for Diablo Lake (still dying to shoot there), but the lake ended up being closed due to Covid. They ended up switching with Mount Rainier, which is just as gorgeous!! The day was filled with a ton of laughter, as Amy and Joe are both hilarious. They kept chiming in during their ceremony, making funny comments. Their nephew even got a couple of one-liners in the made me burst out laughing (I think the question was.. “Are they going to make babies now?”). Amy and Joe were easy to shoot because they were clearly just having a blast.. they really soaked up their elopement. They had originally planned a large wedding this year, but had to cancel it due to Covid. They decided to switch to a mountain elopement, which fit their personalities perfectly. 10/10 would do it again.

This wedding, ugh. I had shot in Mount Rainier before, but it was October, and VERY foggy and rainy. It was a beautiful shoot, but I had never seen Rainier during the summer on a warm day. I was blown away. My boyfriend and I decided to plan a camping trip to the area for this elopement. We spent the whole weekend in awe of the national park’s beauty. Rainier is only a 3 hour drive from Portland, so I have since made the trip out there and back in one day, but it was fun to get a little camping trip in! We camped on BLM land, had little service, bonded, and left feeling incredibly full.

Also, all photos were taken on trails near the Sunrise Visitor Center. ;)

“Joe and Amy met at college 9 years ago, and have been inseparable ever since. During this time they moved west from Virginia and have since enjoyed many Pacific Northwest sunsets together. Their love of adventure and the PNW led them to elope at Mt. Rainier National Park — at sunset of course. While a few key people were missing (thanks, 2020) Amy and Joe couldn’t have asked for more on their wedding day. Stunning Mt. Rainier, vibrant wildflowers, and a breathtaking golden hour/ sunset. It was pure PNW magic.”
