Elopements

— For Portland and Beyond —

For elopements in Portland, Oregon, or anywhere in the US.

Hello, and welcome! My name is Alix. I specialize in intentional, artistic experiences that embody you and your partner through my unique eye. I want your pics to feel real, natural, and non-cheesy. I will get to know you, your style, what your relationships with your friends and family feel like, the music you listen to, and pull this into custom, intentional imagery. I am here to photograph you, your partner, your friends and families, as you truly are, at this point in time.

My Approach to Elopements…

Pick that dream location you saw in a movie. Order that rad dress you weren’t sure you could pull off. Send grumpy Aunt Karen a kind announcement that you eloped last month. Gather the friends and family you’d die for—the ones who have always been there for you, and who never told you to be quiet after you talked their ear off for two hours about your obnoxious coworker, Jed. Bring your speaker and stream Pink Floyd or ACDC. Take your friends and family somewhere they never would have gone if not for your wedding and give them an excuse to travel. Let me see the energy of the life you’ve created with your partner, and I will echo it back to you through a my imagery.

My Process

It starts with a phone call..

We’ll start by jumping on a phone call to get to know each other. I like to ask a lot of questions about the two of you, your personalities, how you met, etc. I want to learn about what’s important to you in your lives as well as your vision for your day.

We’ll narrow down a location..

During the phone call, we will chat about locations. If you already have a location in mind, great! If you aren’t sure yet, don’t worry, part of my artistic process is to help you find something you’ll swoon over. You’ll gain access to my custom guides that will include all of my favorite spots as well as spots I’ve always dreamt of shooting at.

We’ll make a timeline..

From there, we’ll make a timeline. Elopement timelines are loose, but it’s definitely good to have an outlined timeline so that we can stick to it as best as possible. Depending on location, we’ll either be shooting at sunrise or sunset. Keeping lighting in mind, I’ll outline the best schedule for you.

We’ll get you booked..

Once you’re comfortable and ready, we’ll get you booked! I’ll send over a copy of my digital contract for you to sign. The deposit is 50% and I will include instructions for payment. It’s a super easy process!

Preparing for the big day..

This is where the magic happens. Once booked, the first thing I’ll do is send you my guides. They are full of information on how to get the most out of your day. I will follow you on Instagram, add you on Pinterest, and send out my questionnaire to REALLY get to know you. My questionnaire will ask personal questions about how you fell in love, how you spend most of your time, what music you’re into, etc. I don’t want to show up on your wedding day feeling like I don’t know a single thing about you. I want to know what you’re all about so that I can accurately capture your essence. By the time we shoot together, we’ll feel like old friends.

The big day..

The day of the elopement will be a blast. As always, I’ll come prepared with snacks, water, and a first aid kit just in case. Forget something on your way out? Give me a call or text and I should be able to snag it for you! I am here to make sure everything runs smoothly. Once we arrive, we’ll get to soak in the beautiful location you’ve chosen, taking pictures, laughing, hugging friends and family, and truly enjoying your wedding day. I’ll direct and guide everyone to make sure we’re getting the best pics possible. If you’re awkward in front of the camera, don’t worry! I’ll give your prompts that will look and feel natural throughout the session, while allowing room for your natural interactions to come out. We’ll hug (if Covid-19 is no longer around) and say goodbye, then I’m off to edit the photos.

The editing and delivery process..

It is important to me that the colors/vibe match your day perfectly. I edit all of my images myself by hand, and this is one of my favorite parts of the process because it’s where I get to bring the final story to life. After 2 weeks, you’ll have your photos in hand and will cherish them for years to come.

FAQs

Oceanside Oregon Elopement

Where are you located?

I am based out of Portland, Oregon, but am available for travel worldwide.

Will you direct us on posing?

Definitely! Although I have a candid style of shooting, I actually do a lot of directing at my shoots. I’ll tell you where to stand, what to do, and give you actions to perform. I leave room for interaction and am always watching for the moments you forget yourself and relax.

If you’re a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera, no worries! I’ll watch for moments where you’re not sure what to do and give you plenty of direction. Most of my clients are not professional models, so they feel awkward at first, but trust me, once we start shooting, you’ll relax and have fun.

How many images can we expect?

I edit all of the good ones. This means I only remove shots of people blinking, making weird faces, or exact duplicates. This typically ends up being a minimum of 100 images per hour of shooting. I tend to over-deliver, so you’ll have plenty!

Does it cost to have you travel?

My elopement pricing includes travel for up to 2 hours away from Portland. If you are planning on eloping further away, let me know your destination, and I’ll get you a quote!

Do we get printing rights?

Absolutely! You have full printing rights to all of the images. You have the option to print through my site, but you can also download and print them anywhere you’d like!

How much is the deposit and is it refundable?

My deposit is 50%, and is non-refundable. Because I have reserved the date for your event, I am then turning away other business on that date.

How long does the gallery stay up?

I commit to 5 years after your wedding. However, it will most likely be longer. However, I will notify you if the images are going to be taken down.

What do we do if it’s raining on our elopement day?

Umbrellas. I highly recommend ordering clear, bubble umbrellas for your wedding day. These umbrellas are absolutely adorable! They are great for photos because they are transparent, which allows me to capture your guests’ faces while they remain safe under the umbrella. We will also watch the weather closely on your wedding day. I have excellent weather apps, which allow me to see if the rain will be clearing from a given area. Sometimes, if we just wait 15 minutes, the rain will stop and we’ll be able to resume the festivities.

Do you use a second-shooter?

I shoot 95% of my weddings on my own and am able to get PLENTY of great images. Trust me, you’ll have more than enough to choose from. If you’re interested in second-shooter, let me know and I’ll get you a quote!

What is your turnaround time?

2 weeks.

Can we get some vendor recommendations?

Absolutely! I have a list of recs for everything from florists, to makeup artists, to officiants HERE. This is my curated list.. only my absolute faves.

Can we see a sample elopement schedule?

Sure! Assuming a 6pm ceremony time, here’s a sample schedule. However, please note that the ceremony time will be adjusted based on sunset time. One hour could be added on to the beginning of the schedule for getting ready photos. 1 hour could be added on after the schedule for “dinner” photos, should you choose to add those on.

5:45pm - Guests arrive to ceremony site, candids of guests arriving

6:00pm - Ceremony

6:15pm - Group shots

6:30pm - Portraits of bride + groom

7:30pm - Sunset

7:45pm - Wrap up

My Style

Natural, organic, non-posed imagery really captures my attention most. As an empath, I love feeling the vibes you bring as a couple, and playing on those emotions with my imagery. I watch for the way you lean on their shoulder, smile when they look at you, or hold pinkies instead of holding hands. I watch for these things, and I capture them, because those subtleties are the essence of your relationship. I’ll guide and direct you, while leaving room for improvisation and play. I am here to help with styling and making sure your photos look cohesive and intentional. Let’s document you, as you are, at this point in your life.

Next Step: Get in touch.

IMPORTANT: I RESPOND WITHIN 1-3 DAYS. IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE, CHECK YOUR JUNK! UNFORTUNATELY, MY MESSAGES OFTEN END UP IN A JUNK FOLDER.
