Adventure Sessions

— for Oregon & Beyond —

Hello, and welcome! My name is Alix. I specialize in intentional, artistic experiences that embody you and your partner through my unique eye. I want your pics to feel real, natural, and non-cheesy. I will get to know you, your style, what your relationships with your friends and family feel like, the music you listen to, and pull this into custom, intentional imagery. I am here to photograph you, your partner, your friends and families, as you truly are, at this point in time.

These are the best…

Let’s get real into these. This is not your cheesy, show up for an hour, stand in a field and smile type of shoot. This is a stylized, curated, intentional shoot that you’ll look back at when you’re 70 and say “wow, I remember what our lives felt like back then (and damn, we looked hot)”. We’ll shoot at the location you went to on your first date, or the spot you camped at last year, or that spot you’ve never been to, but saw on Instagram and have been dying to visit. Or we’ll bring it back home and shoot at your place, at your local watering hole, or on a rooftop, overlooking the city you fell in love in. I’ll send you my outfit guide with specific advice about what to wear, and you can send me any pics of outfits you’re thinking of wearing. I’ll guide you through the design process to create a stylized shoot that looks like it was pulled from an editorial in a magazine.

The Planning Process

Reach out

Reach out to me and let me know what type of shoot you’re wanting (engagements, anniversary, etc). Let me know if you have a specific location in mind, or are wanting a. little help with choosing. I have guides/information about locations within Oregon or Washington I can send your way if you aren’t sure. We will drill down the the spot that fits your personalities/needs best!

We’ll get you booked

Once you’re comfortable and ready, we’ll pick a date and get you booked! I’ll send over a copy of my digital contract for you to sign. The deposit is 50% and I will include instructions for payment. It’s a very easy process!

Preparing for the shoot

Once booked the first thing I’ll do is send out my adventure guide. This guide is full of information on how to get the most out of your shoot. I’ll be here the process to help you with any questions/issues that arise. I like to be very involved in helping with outfits! I’ll send over my outfit guide to get us started on planning. Feel free to send me any inspo. you have, or pics of outfits you’re into. I’ll provide open and honest feedback about what will look best. I can also provide you with color scheme inspo. based on the location we choose. I also love to follow my clients on Instagram leading up to the big day and check out any mood boards or Pinterest boards they’ve saved. This helps me to get an even better feel for your personalities/individual styles. By the time we shoot together, we’ll feel like old friends.

The adventure day

The day of the shoot will be a blast. You’ll get to soak in the beautiful location you’ve chosen, taking pictures, laughing, hugging, and just being present. Don’t worry, I’ll direct you and and make sure the two of you feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera! Don’t stress if this is new to you—I will give you plenty of direction and you’ll ease into it. I’m a bit of a goofball, so plan on me making silly jokes and keeping things light-hearted.

I am truly honored to be able to create these memories with you.

The editing and delivery process..

It is important to me that the colors/vibe match your day perfectly. I edit all of my images myself by hand, and this is one of my favorite parts of the process because it’s where I get to bring the final story to life. After 2 weeks, you’ll have your photos in hand and will cherish them for years to come.

FAQs

Where are you located?

I am based out of Portland, Oregon, but am available for travel worldwide.

Will you direct us on posing?

Definitely! Although I have a candid style of shooting, I actually do a lot of directing at my shoots. I’ll tell you where to stand, what to do, and give you actions to perform. I leave room for interaction and am always watching for the moments you forget yourself and relax.

If you’re a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera, no worries! I’ll watch for moments where you’re not sure what to do and give you plenty of direction. Most of my clients are not professional models, so they feel awkward at first, but trust me, once we start shooting, you’ll relax and have fun.

How many images can we expect?

I edit all of the good ones. This means I only remove shots of people blinking, making weird faces, or exact duplicates. This typically ends up being a minimum of 100 images per hour of shooting (so 150 images for an engagement session). I tend to over-deliver, so you’ll have plenty!

Does it cost to have you travel?

My adventure session pricing includes travel for up to 1 hour away from Portland. If you are wanting to shoot further than that, request a quote!

Do we get printing rights?

Absolutely! You have full printing rights to all of the images. You have the option to print through my site, but you can also download and print them anywhere you’d like!

How much is the deposit and is it refundable?

My deposit is 50%, and is non-refundable. Because I have reserved the date for your event, I am then turning away other business on that date.

How long does the gallery stay up?

Always. I never take them down.

What do we do if it’s raining on our shoot day?

We have a couple of options here! I always create two timelines for my photo shoots—one for a sunny day and one for a cloudy day. The day before the shoot, if the forecast is showing rain, we will look at the hour-by-hour weather forecast to see if we will have a block of time that doesn’t show rain. If it’s looking like a light drizzle all day, and you aren’t afraid of a little rain, I’d say go for it! Rain can actually be really gorgeous/fun! However, if it’s pouring, we will want to reschedule for another day. I am flexible!

Do you use a second-shooter?

It’s just me at adventure sessions!

What is your turnaround time?

For adventure sessions, my turnaround time is 2 weeks.

My Style

I would describe my style as editorial meets adventure, meets documentary. I love a dramatic portrait just as much as I love an epic backdrop, and as much as I love real/authentic moments with friends and family. I love to incorporate all of these vibes together, in order to create a full and dynamic story of your day.

My editing style is classic and nostalgic. Although I am very particular about my editing, I am not a heavy editor. I don’t just apply one heavy filter to every one of my images. I edit your images individually and tweak the colors to perfectly fit your wedding day, while still maintaining a consistent style with the rest of my work.

Natural, organic, non-posed imagery really captures my attention most. As an empath, I love feeling the vibes you bring as a couple, and playing on those emotions with my imagery.

I watch for the way you lean on their shoulder, smile when they look at you, or hold pinkies instead of holding hands. I watch for these things, and I capture them, because those subtleties are the essence of your relationship.

Next Step: Get in touch.

IMPORTANT: I RESPOND WITHIN 1-3 DAYS. IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE, CHECK YOUR JUNK! UNFORTUNATELY, MY MESSAGES OFTEN END UP IN A JUNK FOLDER.
